Mandala of the Five Buddha Families
With Tiffani Gyatso and Prajwal Vajracharya
January 5 - 11, 2024
Join us for a very special new years retreat with Tiffani Gyatso and Prajwal Vajracharya practicing the sacred Buddhist arts of painting and dance, nourishing the body and mind, while immersed in the healing environment of Pure Land Farms.
A mandala, meaning “circle” in Sanskrit, is a geometric representation of enlightened wholeness. In this five day retreat, we will connect with the mandala of the five Buddha families through art, dance, and meditation.
In the mornings we will practice through art, creating and coloring the mandala with mindful awareness while exploring its meaning with Tiffani Gyatso, Tibetan thangka painter and sacred geometry artist.
In the afternoons, we will embody the mandala through movement, studying the Charya dance tradition of Nepal and learning the attributes and expressions of each of the Buddha families with lineage holder, Prajwal Ratna Vajracharya.
Each day we will focus on one of the Buddha families, exploring its associated element, wisdom, color, and animal. On the final day, we will complete the mandala, uniting all the elements together in the complete circle.
Traditional Buddhist teachings and practices will be shared throughout the retreat, along with creative and fun ways in which we can more deeply connect with each of the five elements through colors, foods, healing herbs and more.
